Tombak Workshop

Araz School of Percussion's instructor, Araz Nayeb Pashayee, will present a highly educational and entertaining Tombak workshop at a beginner level to music enthusiasts of all ages. The workshop will contain the following:

 1) Short group performance (by school members)

2) Theory part: 

- The art of Tombak playing and its brief evolutionary history
- What is Tombak made of? 

- Introduction of some common rhythmic patterns and styles on Tombak

3) Practical part (with participation of volunteering audience): 

- How to hold the Tombak

- Most basic strokes used in Tombak playing: Tom and Bak

- Playing one or two simple rhythmic patterns in which everyone has a chance to get involved either by playing them on the drum (using the basic strokes learned) or by clapping.
