Safdar Taghizadeh

Safdar Taghizadeh was born in Abadan in 1932 and holds a Masters degree in English Language and Literature from Tehran University. He studied Administration in England and started translating English literary works into Persian. Some of his translated works are Anna Christie and The Long Voyage Home, by Eugene O'Neill, Tortilla Flat by John Steinbeck, La Ronde (Reigen) by Arthur Schnitzler, Death in the Woods by Sherwood Anderson, Modern Novels: The 99 Best by Anthony Burgess and Strange Pilgrims by Gabriel Garcia Marquez.
The book “Shokoofaee Dastane Kootah Dar Daheh Nakhost e Enghelab” (The Heyday of Short Stories During the First Decade of the Revolution) is one of his compilations in Persian. He is one of the editors of the “Farnhang Sokhan” series under the supervision of Dr. Hassan Anvari.
He has served as jury in many literary competitions and has been the founder of several literary awards.
