Laya Alemohammad

Laya Alemohammad was born in 1984 in Tehran, Iran. She has a Bachelor Degree in Material Science-Ceramic Engineering from Azad University as well as a Music Performance and Teaching Music diploma from Tehran Conservatory of Music.
She started learning the piano at the age of 8 and continued with her master Farman Behboud former professor of Tehran Conservatory up to the advanced level. Laya further enhanced her knowledge in the field of music and piano by taking several other courses such as harmony and composition lessons. She has taken part in a few master classes of Moscow professor Nina Evgafova and professor Valentine Rukomojinikov from the Tchaikovsky Conservatory.
Laya has been teaching Piano Since 2003 and she has very good experience in working with children and sharing the love of music with them. She has held more than 10 successful recitals for her students in Tehran.
In addition to the art of piano Laya is passionate about the ceramics art. She has attended, several trainings, workshops and master classes at Iranian association of pottery artists. Ceramics art is now one of her main professions and passions which is generally recognized by the swirled handles, colorful glazes and etc.
Laya has been creating functional and decorative pottery since 2009. Furthermore, she has been represented at a successful exhibition at Moghadam Museum of Tehran University in Winter of 2013.
Laya currently resides in Toronto and has been actively following her artistic passions by teaching orff and piano and creating functional decorative, ceramic sculptures and wall arts.
