Naser Masoudi and Sarv Ensemble
Maestro Masoudi will perform some of his most memorable Gilaki songs including Jangal, Daghooleh and Khal Beh Konje Lab.
Sarv Ensemble is a traditional Persian music ensemble. Drawing inspiration from diverse classical and folk traditions across Iran, its aim is to perform and share this music through concerts, workshops, outreach and community events. Sarv Ensemble performs original work as well as compositions of masters of the past and today, presenting both in traditional contexts as well as in collaboration with artists from different traditions and disciplines. It has performed with artists such as Ostad Naser Masoudi and Roohangiz from Guilan province of Iran, Canadian vocalists Maryam Tollar, Irene Markoff, and storyteller Ariel Balevi. Sarv Ensemble has performed in several festivals and venues across Canada, such as Tirgan Festival, Cultura Festival, and Festival du Monde Arabe. Since 2013 percussion virtuoso Pedram Khavarzamini has joined the group, and introduced a new level of energy and rigour to the group.
